When Dynamic Coffee was getting started, Andrew was in Márcala looking for coffee. Don Fabio Caballero told him he had the right person and called his grandson. Fabio Jr. arrived at his grandfather's home within minutes.
Andrew and Dynamic became Fabio Jr.'s first coffee clients. Fabio had recently graduated in agriculture, had spent years working beside his grandfather, and was beginning to take on farm operations. Dynamic bought Catuai and Bourbon from his first harvest and has kept returning as Fabio experiments with processing and builds quality year after year.
Fabio's farms are spread across named parcels in the Márcala area. Weather reduced harvest volumes across Honduras this year, and he was unsure whether Las Virginias would produce enough of this Geisha to enter Cup of Excellence. He gathered enough to compete, and this coffee secured fourth place in the 2026 Honduras competition.
This incoming washed Geisha is what Roots means to us: not a coffee found once, but a producer relationship that grows through difficult seasons, continued work, trust, and buying.
The coffee
Geisha is valued for aromatic intensity, clarity, and an elegant cup structure that can carry floral, citrus, tropical-fruit, and tea-like character. It is typically lower yielding and demands careful farm and harvest work. In this Las Virginias lot from Márcala, Fabio's expression is transparent and delicate while still carrying ripe berry sweetness.
In washed processing, the fruit is removed before the coffee finishes drying, allowing careful fermentation and washing to emphasize the seed's inherent character. For this lot, that clean structure makes the Geisha variety easy to read: raspberry, strawberry, tropical fruit, honey, and sugar-cane sweetness remain distinct through the finish.
Dynamic began buying from Fabio during his first harvest in 2022 and has followed his development across varieties, processing experiments, and farms.
Cupping profile
The cup moves from mixed berries and tropical fruit toward honey and sugar-cane sweetness. Acidity is balanced and stone-fruit-like; the body is soft, juicy, and coating, remaining pleasant as it cools.
